I need more education. I am not as smart as I'd like to be. I guess it is because I am constantly surrounded by such incredible minds. I always feel unknowing. I feel like I learn more with every conversation I listen to and try to participate in, but I am not on the level of many of the people I am around. I need to find a way to educate myself. To become smarter. I can only get wiser through time, but I must inject some type of smart elixir into my eyes. Jannine interviewed me yesterday and I answered questions a hell of a lot better than I though I ever would. I was able to explain everything I think about everything she asked. The whole Latino thing, was a cool topic. I really despise the term, and what it is placed under that umbrella and what we are in the United States Of America. They must make a distinction. A country founded by immigrants is so interested in pointing out where everyone comes from. Latino isn't a race it is a region. There are white, Black, indginous and everything in between. Thats all. Why aren't Jamaicans considered Latino or Trini's if they are in Latin America? You know. Are Spanyards Latino? Of course not. It is all so so so so stupid, and we all brought in to it because we were forced to carry our yellow stars and purple triangels (JW in the Holocaust) on our sleeves.
Now we are one group to be categorized by everyone who isn't one of us. That sucks. Can't do anything about it though, it is already in play. That is life though, oh well. Now in March we celebrate the heritage of a bunch of countries and cultures bunched up into one big catergory. The Umbrellas.
I am a man of color who speaks, reads, and writes spanish as well as english, and my parents are both of color and were both born in the Dominican Republic. I am a Dominican York. Thats all.

On Friday I am hosting the Urban Word Slam at the Point in the BX, come check me out.

More thoughts to come.

Con tato, Chevere nice, Te gusto?
