Well I got to San Jose, was driven to Santa Cruz and began West Side exploration.
Of course the first thing I ate was a burrito. I saw bagel shops and pizza shops but didn't want to be disappointed looking for home food in a foreign land. I ate what is home food to the home I'm in. My first Burrito was good. "Hella" good!
Christine took me to the Berkeley slam where I was happy to walk in and see familiar east coast faces of Laura and Christian Drake. Guys I still don't know how to do the thing where I put your LJ names instead of the real ones. Sorry.
So I haven't seen these people since I did my "two city tour" in DC/Baltimore. It was a pleasant surprise and we resumed our good sequel debate. That is exactly what I needed. Berkeley is beautiful and cool. I didn't see much of it but it was "Hella cool". I saw Geoff and Nas and Charles and it was fun to talk shit with the Bay Area Connection.
I was taken to IN and Out for my first time. Not that big of a deal folks. You west coast people have so much great food and you boast up that shit? Com'on.
The next day I woke up and got ready for a day with Kitt Jennings, Olivia Mercurio Pepper, James ***** and my new friend Corbett. They took me to this restaurant called Saturn. Let me just say that Cirelli, Mathew Charles, Lovella and the rest of the Vegan /Vegetarian community would love it. I ate my first garden burger with pesto and basil and loved the shit out of it. It was so so so amazing. I had to eat pork later on that day to balance it out but it really was dope.
So the coolest thing is that they took me to the Santa Cruz beach and we waled the shore past the carnival thing and walked the train track bridge. I walked those tracks looking down totally scared and realizing that I can't fit down the slits but still scared anyway. What bridge do you ask? THE LOST BOYS BRIDGE. Thats right the one used in my first horror movie every. I was like Maggots michael your eating maggots.
That night was my Santa Cruz feature, and I rocked it out with much much fun. It felt good. My people were in the front row making all sorts of noise. Those guys really showed me lots of support. Hella yo Hella.
So on friday I gets on the plane, and let me just say that Alaska Airlines sucks ass. Maybe I was spoiled by jetblue but alaska sucked. Then I get to portland and take a train to a bus to the greyhound who is an hour and a half late and stinks like vomit and other fowl shit. Wow what a horrendous travel experience. So I got on the plane at 11:45am and didn't get to Eugene until 8:30pm. Dude.
But as soon as I called Marietta to pick me up everything changed. She took me to a teen event she helped organize and it was so much fun. At a place where I had organic pizza and organic beer. Get this in the bathroom where there should be napkins there was a community towel. That was just not needed. So I this place and these kids all look like lower east side hipsters. It was so cute.
There was this short little half Asian punkrock girl doing songs with an acoustic guitar and her last song was a cover of Bitches Aint Shit by Snoop Dogg. WHAT??????
So now i'm in marietta's while she is working. Later the Eugene slam and more fun to come till Monday.
Oh and I'm listening to the complete Purple Rain Album as I type this. I love it.
