Mayawho.com So Monday I was having an extreme bad day at work as I had yesterday and I expect today. Anyway once again a Slam free day at Bar 13, is when you can breath. You can listen to poetry and appreciate. The open mic was stellar. Rachel Griffiths read the best poem that I have heard and read so far, written to the Katrina victims. It was amazing. Also Maria-Elizabeth in her Bar 13 premiere rocked out and scared a few people who didn't know she was Latina. She was wonderful, and what was really great was looking at her on stage and watching Taylor glow as he watched that. Louder Mondays really lift me during low days. But, the first feature was a bit of a bore. I didn't like her at all. She was mean too. I'll keep her name quiet for now. Second feature of the night was super duper awesome singer and performer. Maya Azucena is amazing and her album is on my top ten playlist right now. I sold her out and that was a pleasure for me. I was so excited to know she was performing and I was so so happy to see her again and be witness to a stunning set. Check out http://mayawho.com/main.htm and buy an album or two. She is amazing. Tuesday was bad day, but when I left work things turned around a bit. I got a cigar and smoked it in Central Park, and went down to the Bruckner Bar n Grill to get an early start on the burger before the show. I was not the only one that thought like that because Jessica and Adam were already there. We played some pool and I won even though the table is extremely jacked up, and enjoyed the burger to the fullest of my power. So So Tasty. The open mic was intimate and interesting. My Cousin Sarah Read for her second time. Then the feature. Kundiman Sarah Gambito is an amazing feature. She is an amazing poet. Her use of words is just Magical. I first got her book at her book release party and was amazed by it at first touch. That was almost a year ago. So so amazing. Guys you gotta check her out. Okay thats enough for now. I love you all... |
